Designed by the German designer Anatole Lapine, the Porsche 944 was presented at the Frankfurt Motor Show in 1981. The Porsche 944 design is reminiscent to that of the 924 with a few changes. The Porsche 944 features the famous “transaxle” transmission and a 100% Porsche 4 cylinder engine. When it appeared in 1981, the Porsche 944 had a 2.5 litre engine developing 163cv DIN. In 1984 appeared a new version of this engine, a 2.7 litre engine developing 165cv DIN.
